Safe Surgical Lasers and Operations
Commercially proven laser sources for tissue sealing and cutting
Improving patient safety
The current worldwide electrosurgical (ES) device market is very dangerous. Many of these devices are prone to extraneous current leakage that causes tissue damage. According to the Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses, 40,000 patients per year are burned by faulty ES devices. This is unexpectable in an industry where safety should be a primary concern.
This problem stems from the fact that most medical laser systems operate without a feedback system. None of them address how to control bleeding during surgery. High-power lasers are an ideal solution as they can burn tissue to seal a laceration. However, these lasers require precise control of the power to prevent the tissues from burning.
Here at SharpArrow Medical, our laser tissue sealer and cutter overcome these oversights in electrosurgical and laser-based surgical systems. Our patented optical system can deliver a precise amount of laser power without burning tissue. Additional proprietary sensor technologies ensure system safety as well as efficacy. Light-tissue interaction sensory data accumulated from the system is used to create a universal, smart medical laser device, suitable for a wide range of medical applications.
We are currently building a prototype system for demonstration purpose. Once completed, we plan to first deploy these systems for laparoscopic and robotic surgeries. Medical companies such as Medtronics and Auris Health (acquired by Johnson & Johnson) have shown interest in our laser technologies. Furthermore, we are also working with government agencies to further expand and develop our laser technology.
Diverse Surgical Applications
SharpArrow’s laser system will aid and benefit many types of surgeries, especially minimally invasive ones. The most significant steps of minimally invasive surgeries are cutting and sealing tissue, and without the proper tools and techniques, problems such as excessive bleeding and unnecessary tissue damage can arise. We designed our laser system with this concern as our top priority, not only to prevent these issues but to also make surgeries effortless for surgeons and painless for patients.

Innovative Technology
SharpArrow Medical has unique and patent-pending technologies that will improve the safety of surgical lasers and operations performed by surgeons. We have invented and are currently developing specific optical fiber-guided sensors which can be used as standalone units for many medical applications.
Our Mission
At SharpArrow Medical, we put safety and quality treatment for our patients as our top priority. Our mission is to improve the surgical process and experience for our patients and further enhance their overall quality of life without disrupting their day-to-day activities. With that goal in mind, we aim to revolutionize the medical industry and the current approach to performing surgeries with our novel technology.
